Gillian is a Massachusetts native who developed her love for the ocean through prone paddleboarding, ocean swimming, standup paddling and surfing while working as a lifeguard on Cape Cod. The serene New England environment was also the perfect setting to take her yoga practice into nature, and bring balance to the body after lifeguard competitions and long hours in the water.
After college, her connection to the ocean lead her to take a position as a lifeguard in New Zealand, and also packback around Central America in search of adventure. Once landing in San Diego, Gillian desired to share her passions with others by creating Paddle Into Fitness. The company offers Paddleboard & SUP Yoga certifications that provide paddle technique and water safety training for aspiring SUP yoga instructors.
When Gillian isn’t busy teaching, she can be found competing in different high profile ocean events, and is a regular on the podium at races such as the Battle of the Paddle. Gillian placed first in the Waikiki Quiksilver Festival in the SUP Survivor Race and the Water woman Race, and also raced as a member of Team USA during the ISA World Championships.
Gillian has a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and is 200 hour E-RYT with Yoga Alliance. She has a decade of ocean lifeguarding experience, is a certified Emergency Medical Technician, and is sponsored by Roxy, Ocean Minded, Kialoa Paddles, and 404 SUP. She was featured on the cover of Yoga Journal and SUP Magazine Australia, and has been a presenting SUP Yoga Instructor at the San Diego Yoga Journal Conference, Wanderlust Festivals, and led the largest SUP Yoga class on Lake Tahoe.
